Welcome New VP Client Services

Shelly Ray has recently joined the team at MMR Research Associates as the new VP – Client Services. She brings with her more than 25 years of package goods, service, technology and communications research at both client and supplier companies.

In her most recent position, Shelly was a partner Lynx Research Consulting, where for 13 years she fostered a passion for market research design and analysis. During her tenure she worked with talented marketers in a wide range of industries, and discovered a passion for using her experience to mentor others just beginning their journey in the marketing research industry.

Her experience on both sides of our business (client and supplier), plus personal energy and desire to mentor make her a perfect addition to MMR.”

Shelly began her research career at The Coca-Cola Company in Atlanta where she gained a solid foundation in package goods research and fundamentals of marketing. From there she crossed the table to the supplier side, advancing from project manager to account manager and then account director. The supplier side of the business provided a well-rounded understanding of the entire research process, and added industry expertise with telecommunications to her package goods experience.

In 1996 Shelly once again went client-side when she joined BellSouth Telecommunications as a research manager. Her role expanded from Consumer Marketing – which included product development, pricing, advertising, branding and segmentation – to Director of Customer Value Modeling for BellSouth Corporation and eventually to Director, Corporate Marketing Research. In addition to her responsibilities for all advertising, branding, customer value and communications research, Shelly led or was involved in all positioning and naming strategy efforts across the BellSouth entities.

In her position at MMR, Shelly will fill a hybrid role as both collaborator and designer, helping MMR to continue to reinforce its position as partners and consultants to clients. A graduate of the University of Georgia’s Master in Marketing Research program, she has maintained close ties to the MMR program, and has mentored a student nearly every year – a practice she will continue.

Shelly serves on the board of the prestigious Marketing Research Institute International and is also active with several volunteer organizations including Family Promise of North Fulton/Dekalb and Los Niños Primero. She and her husband, Steve, are parents to two boys and two crazy Vizsla dogs. Her “happy place” is walking on the beach and anywhere she can be surrounded by her family.
